ELECTED OFFICIALS RESPOND TO EDUCATION QUESTIONNAIRE
For this 2006 election season, NEA-Alaska sent written surveys to all the candidates running for governor, lieutenant governor, and the legislature.  The questionnaire was based on the priorities of our 13,000 teachers and education support professionals:

• adequate funding
• creation of a long-range fiscal plan
• secure retirement benefits for our members and other public employees
• attracting & retaining quality educators
• class size

Below are the candidate responses to questions on these and other critical education issues.  We hope you will compare the candidates' positions and choose strong pro-education candidates.

We hope you will vote in the General Election on November 7.  Alaska's schools and children have a lot at stake.
